AI Voice Note Taker

Record meetings, lectures and voice memos, get an accurate transcript in 99+ languages, and a summary you can search and ask questions of.

Need help, found a bug, or got a bad transcript?

Email is our only support channel, and a person reads every message. We usually reply within two business days.

It helps if you include your iOS version, the app version from Settings, and roughly when the recording was made. Please do not email us the audio itself unless we ask — it is usually not needed and it is yours, not ours.

Recording

How do I record something?

Tap record on the home tab and start talking. You can also say "Hey Siri, start recording" to begin without unlocking, which is the difference between capturing a meeting and remembering afterwards that you meant to.

Live captions appear while you record, using on-device speech recognition, so you can see it is working. The accurate transcript is produced afterwards.

Can I import audio I already have?

Yes — pick an existing audio or video file and it is transcribed the same way. The app asks for photo library access at that point, and only then, because that is where recorded video usually lives.

Which languages does it handle?

Over 99, detected automatically — you do not have to tell it which language you are about to speak. Mixed-language recordings generally work, though a speaker switching mid-sentence is the hardest case for any transcriber.

The transcript has mistakes.

Accuracy depends mostly on the audio. Put the phone nearer whoever is speaking, away from a laptop fan or air conditioning, and avoid rooms with hard echo. Heavy crosstalk — several people at once — is what degrades a transcript fastest.

Names, acronyms and technical jargon are the usual casualties, because they are unusual words. If a transcript is much worse than you expected, tell us roughly when it was made and what it was about.

Transcripts, summaries and chat

What is the difference between the transcript and the summary?

The transcript is everything that was said. The summary is the short version — the decisions, the points that mattered, the things someone asked you to do. Open a recording and both are there.

What does chatting with a note do?

It lets you ask questions about that recording — "what did we agree about the deadline?", "who was going to send the contract?" — instead of scrolling a transcript looking for it. Answers come from that recording's content.

It is a reading aid, not a witness. For anything consequential, check the transcript itself.

Can I get my notes out of the app?

Yes — export a recording as a PDF, or copy the text. Your notes should never be trapped in one app, including this one.

Subscription

What is free, and what does Pro add?

The free tier includes a weekly transcription allowance, which is enough to judge the quality on your own recordings before paying anything. Pro removes the limit and unlocks the full feature set. The current allowance and the price in your local currency are both shown on the subscription screen before you confirm.

I reinstalled the app or changed phone — where is my subscription?

Tap Restore purchases in Settings. No email or password is needed: the subscription belongs to the Apple Account that bought it, so sign in to that account and restore.

Your recordings are a separate matter, and this one matters. They are stored on the device, not on our servers, so they do not follow you to a new phone and they are not recoverable if the app is deleted. Export anything you want to keep before you delete the app or wipe the device.

How do I cancel?

Open Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your device and turn off auto-renew. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends to avoid the next charge; you keep access until that period runs out.

Can I get a refund?

Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us — we never receive your payment and cannot issue one directly. Request at reportaproblem.apple.com. Write to us anyway if something went wrong; we will help you make the case.

Privacy of your recordings

Where do my recordings go?

Recordings, transcripts and summaries are stored on your device. To produce an accurate transcript or a summary, the audio or text is sent to OpenAI for processing and is not retained there afterwards. Nothing is uploaded for any other purpose, and there is no account, so there is no library of your recordings anywhere but your phone.

The full detail is in the privacy policy.

Should I tell people I am recording?

Yes — and in many countries you are legally required to. Recording laws differ, and in some places every participant must consent. That obligation is yours, not the app's, and it is worth knowing the rule where you are before you record a call or a meeting.

How do I delete a recording, or all of them?

Delete an individual recording from the library, or delete the app to remove everything at once. Either way it is gone permanently — we hold no copy to restore from.

Permissions

Why does the app ask for these?

  • Microphone — to record. Without it there is nothing to transcribe.
  • Speech recognition — for the live captions shown while recording, which run on your device.
  • Photo library — asked only when you import an existing audio or video file.

Each is requested at the moment it is needed rather than up front, and declining one disables only that feature.
