Twenty-four questions against a 45-minute clock, each tagged with its chapter and difficulty. The result is marked against the real pass mark of 18 out of 24, and every question you miss goes on a list for later. One mock a day is free; Premium makes them unlimited.

Each lesson is a ten-minute read built from the handbook, with the facts the test asks about called out, a Read Aloud button in British English for the commute, and a quiz at the end. Mark it complete and the next one is waiting.
Chapters
Practice by chapter, weakest first
The five chapters of the handbook, each with its own question bank and a progress figure. History carries 155 questions on its own, which is roughly the proportion of the real test it takes. A custom test builder mixes chapters and difficulty however you want.
Test day
A countdown to the test, and a list of your mistakes
Set the date and the home screen counts down to it, with a daily goal, a streak, and one tap into whatever you got wrong last time. The listing's own home screen shows 90 days to go and 48 mistakes waiting for review.

Learn a chapter, then test it
Read the lessons for a chapter, take the quiz at the end of each, then run a mock. The first chapter and one mock a day are free; Premium unlocks all five chapters and unlimited mocks.

Review mistakes until the mocks hold
Every wrong answer goes on the review list. Drill it, use the weak-areas mode, and book the real test once timed mocks are holding well above 18 out of 24.

Is the Life in the UK Test app free?
It is free to download, and the first handbook chapter, The Values and Principles of the UK, with all its lessons and 50 of its questions, one mock test a day, progress tracking and dark mode are free to use. Premium, a subscription managed through the App Store, unlocks the other three chapters, unlimited mock tests, the custom test builder, analytics with a pass prediction, text-to-speech and offline access.
How many questions are in the real Life in the UK test, and how long is it?
Twenty-four questions in 45 minutes, taken on a computer at a test centre. GOV.UK describes them as questions about British traditions and customs; in practice they are drawn from the five chapters of the official handbook. The app's mock tests use the same 24 questions and 45 minutes.

Eighteen correct answers out of 24, which is 75%. You are told whether you passed at the test centre as soon as you finish. The app marks every mock against the same line, and its pass prediction is built to tell you when you are safely above it rather than just over it.

Anyone applying for settlement in the UK or for British citizenship, unless they are under 18, 65 or over, have already passed it for an earlier application, or have a long-term physical or mental condition that makes taking it unreasonable. A pass from a settlement application counts again for citizenship.

It costs £50, and you book it online on GOV.UK at least three days ahead, with an email address, a debit or credit card, and the details of an accepted ID document, which you bring on the day. There are more than 30 test centres to choose from.

No. The real questions are not published. The app's 500+ questions are written from the facts in the official handbook, which is where the real ones come from too, and each has an explanation. Practising them teaches the material and the shape of the questions, which is what the test rewards.
